I am an Amsterdam-based photographer and mother of two. One of my earliest memories is pouring over family photo albums on the floor of my parent’s bedroom. My grandfather used our family photographs to tell the stories of our heritage in a nostalgic, theatrical and romantic way. There is no doubt our obsession with nostalgia is genetic.
When I got my first camera at the age of six I said “I can see it in my eyes”. I had a clear vision of the scene I wanted to capture. My work explores the lived experience of womenhood, using the image-making process as a tool of reflection, archiving and validation. I use photography and storytelling to celebrate the beauty and complexity of being a mother, woman and human in our collective world.
